Do you know anyone who has had cancer, heart attack, or stroke?  Sadly, we all do.  The list of critical illnesses is extensive.  In fact, one-third of all Canadians will experience a critical illness, become disabled, or die before the age of 65.

Compounding the devastation of a critical illness diagnosis, is financial hardship due to unforeseen medical and non-medical costs.

To identify a few…

  • You may need extensive time away from employment for recovery;

  • If your insured child were critically ill, a leave of absence from employment would allow you to be with your child through treatment;

  • Some expensive prescription drugs may not be insured;

  • You may require in-home care that would pose a strain on family members;

  • You may have options for treatment and alternate opinions elsewhere at a cost;

  • Your home may require modifications for mobility reasons.

The good news…advances in medical technology has many people surviving critical illness.

Whether lives return to normal or not, the added financial stress of getting through the illness presents when least needed.

Put action behind a pre-planned goal to avoid financial devastation caused by critical illness.  With statistics as they are, this is a wise move.
